Maya “borrowed” Neil Armstrong’s moon rock from his Apollo 11 moon landing, after his son, Mark, brought it in for 2nd grade show and tell.  He had to show up at her house to retrieve it.

Maya Shackley

Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer

Maya Shackley is Dezenhall’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. She directs all of Dezenhall’s financial, legal, and administrative operations. Shackley began her career at the firm, then Nichols-Dezenhall, in 1990, helping to establish the newly formed firm’s financial and administrative departments. Shackley has long served in executive management, driving the company’s strategic evolution and growth.

A seasoned financial services professional with over 35 years in the industry, Shackley started her career as a stockbroker and junk bond trader working at firms like E.F. Hutton, Smith Barney, and Drexel Burnham Lambert.

Shackley is a graduate of the University of Michigan and bleeds maize and blue. She and her husband, David, share a passion for swimming and are actively involved with the USA Swimming Foundation. While she adores her two adult sons, she has a great fondness for her grand pets, Athena (a rescue Doberman) and Cheddar (a Siberian cat). Shackley lives with her husband in Tucson, Arizona, and in Dewey Beach, Delaware, in the summer months.
