Colby Nelson

Vice President 

Colby Nelson is a vice president at Dezenhall Resources, specializing in reputation management, crisis communications, and media relations.

Prior to joining Dezenhall, Nelson was a senior director for external relations at AARP, where he built the organization’s issues management practice, led media outreach efforts, and served as a spokesman. Additionally, he led large-scale federal advocacy media campaigns and helped develop internal and external communications strategies on a wide range of issues including the Affordable Care Act, prescription drugs, Social Security, Medicare, mental health and more.

Nelson started his career on Capitol Hill, serving in the congressional offices of Representatives Steve Driehaus, Kathy Hochul, and Diana DeGette, in addition to working on President Obama’s reelection campaign. Nelson is a graduate of Allegheny College and resides in Virginia with his wife and daughter. When he’s not with his family, he can likely be found at a nearby golf course.
