David Vorland is a Vice President at Dezenhall Resources, where he manages public affairs and advocacy campaigns for corporations in a variety of industries. He works with clients in developing effective operational and communications strategies for companies and individuals in crisis, with particular focus in the defense, consumer products and healthcare sectors.
Prior to joining Dezenhall Resources, Vorland worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. At the Pentagon, he was responsible for the development of nuclear and missile defense policy, defense strategy, contingency planning, and security cooperation efforts; and participated in the development of the Pentagon’s annual budget submission. He represented the Department of Defense with international partners and built support for the Administration’s priorities with Congress.
Vorland’s experience in the political and advocacy fields also includes serving in the field operation of the Obama-Biden Presidential campaign from 2007- 2008, working in Iowa, Wisconsin, Texas, Indiana and North Carolina. As Regional Field Director, he coordinated media, surrogate, legal, and operations activities with the field program, and led a team that recruited and trained more than 4,000 volunteers
Vorland holds a B.A. in political science from Iowa State University and an M.A. in international relations from the University of Chicago. Vorland was born and raised in Iowa, and now lives in Washington, D.C.
